  • The Photocopies - Top Of The Pops 7" + Youth Training Scheme 5" lathe cut records
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Want the digital version on it's own? It's at thephotocopies.bandcamp.com/album/top-of-the-pops-album --- Now, for the physical media types:

7" transparent 2mm PET-G 13-track lathe cut record, colour foldover sleeve with lyrics on the inside, housed in poly bag, plus 5" *** transparent 2mm PET-G 4-track lathe cut single in poly sleeve with insert. Includes digital download of the individual songs, the songs as assembled on the two sides of the 7" and four... er... 'idiosyncratic' video files. The contents of the 5"*** are not included though, because reasons.

*** Cards on table (again): It's not exactly 5" in diameter, it's actually 12cm - the same size as a CD - which equates to 4.72441", but that doesn't sound as snappy. Please don't feel cheated. Also note that it may not play fully (or at all) on turntables with an auto cut-off or return, ones that limit the movement of the arm towards the centre, and some linear trackers. Perhaps. Just so you know. It's still cute.

Please note that these records are cut to/on demand, and by myself and only myself, so the shipping date has been set quite a long way into the future but I shall be doing my best to get as many as possible out before then. I hope that's okay with everyone. Good things come to those who wait, apparently. I'll also be doing them in a few batches, rather than just turn up at the Post Office with 50 of the things and hold up the queue for nearly 20 minutes like I did with Million Sellers. I got some very ugly looks.

I've got enhanced payments enabled on here, which *should* make international orders less of a problem with regard to VAT and all that. Last time it was all pretty successful, and I think the only issue was a chap in Spain who got his disc SIX WEEKS late, and then the post office tried to charge him VAT on it even though it'd already been paid. So, we *should* be okay, but I can't promise.

Postage in the UK is £3, Europe (1/2/3) £5, everywhere else £7.50. I took a noticeable hit on a couple of far-overseas orders last time, but never mind. It's the art that counts. *cough* Additional units overseas get costly, I would suggest you only buy one, although I can't enforce that. It's also a bit of a squash to get two 7"s and two 5"s into one mailer. Multiple purchases from the UK are actively discouraged, unless you give me a damned good reason. It's lovely to see that nobody has punted their copy of Million Sellers onto Disc*gs yet, and it'd be even lovelier to keep it that way this time around. Cheers, folks! Here's the PR blurb. Again.

    "Hello again!

The Ultra Modern Label proudly presents its second release - UMOD003. What happened to 002? That's in the pipeline. However, yet again we point our pop-antenna towards Detroit and pick up another broadcast from Radio Photocopies. Actually, it should be Radio The Photocopies, but that doesn't sound as good.

This time around, it's an all new album. 13 songs. On a 45rpm 7" single. Each song clocks in at less than a minute, they're all perfectly formed, concise, smushed up against each other and make Pink Flag come across as a triple LP opus.

The 7" is expertly and individually lathe cut at plastidisc.com onto 2mm transparent PET-G, with a hole in the middle which is compatible with all good record players (and probably a lot of crap ones). It comes in a polythene bag with a colour fold-over cover which handily prints the lyrics on the inside so you can sing along. 15 people also have the possible chance of an extra 5" disc containing four more songs - three back catalogue classics and a special cover version - recorded at extra-fuzzy 33rpm. These are not in the included digital version, though. Take heed.

(Note that not all players can handle the 5" disc, especially ones with auto-return or shut off. Ultra Modern cannot take any responsibility if your machine stops half way across the disc, or keeps throwing the arm back to rest no matter how slowly and carefully you try and land the stylus onto the run-in, like some sort of sonic helicopter pilot. Those with 100% manual players should have no problem whatsoever.)"

about

Hey, digital download pop kids! Don't buy this if you're not buying a record, please take a trolley to thephotocopies.bandcamp.com/album/top-of-the-pops-album and purchase the datastream version from there. Thanks. (Unless you want to give us a grand for being ace, of course. No takers last time, but it's worth a shot, eh?)
